Parades-a-plenty
Oberlin has this awesome grass-roots community arts parade every year called simply, The Big Parade. I have become quite involved with this event, as I help with parade planning, organizing volunteers, etc. I also coordinate and lead a series of parade preparation workshops that are free and open to the public. We teach folks how to make giant puppets, colorful masks and spectacular floats, among other things. The Big Parade exemplifies Oberlin's community spirit and unifies the town unlike any event of its kind.
